My last project, Bomb Pirates, allowed players to embark on a treasure hunt as a pirate using bombs to navigate challenging levels filled with deadly enemies and traps. It was a quick web game in the speedrun genre, developed after careful research into what currently works best for web games.
Despite my efforts, Bomb Pirates performed average once again. However, I was relieved to confirm that I wasnΓÇÖt being unfairly targeted by publishers. The gameΓÇÖs performance was still mediocre, and I decided to put up an ad to sell my PC. I formatted the computer and prepared to wrap up my development work for the night.
Just as I was about to sleep, I received an email from another publisherΓÇöCoolmath Games wanted to license Bomb Pirates. This opportunity came right at the brink of giving up, and it was a much-needed break. I quickly downloaded all my coding and game development tools, worked out at the gym, and then dedicated 12 hours to preparing the game for licensing.
Although Bomb Pirates wasnΓÇÖt my most successful game, it required the least effort and marketing yet still achieved notable success. IΓÇÖm hopeful for even greater outcomes as I continue to work on it. As of now, IΓÇÖm using my sisterΓÇÖs laptop for development but plan to set up my own equipment soon, possibly after moving abroad.
